Samsung Galaxy S8; The most awaited phone from Samsung is finally here, though the leaked images killed some excitement, it is great to see the final product. There are some significant changes that Samsung has implemented this time in the new flagship. Whether it is about removing physical buttons or bringing iris sensor back which earlier got introduced into Note 7.

  1. No doubt, Samsung is nailing in display department since Samsung S5, and it takes that to a whole new level with Samsung S8. The display is sharp and crisp, all thanks to Super AMOLED display, the colours are on point. The viewing angles are great.
  2. The resolution on both the phones is same totalling to 2960×1440 (QHD), S8 comes with 570 PPI, being a smaller display phone gets the advantage on PPI (pixel per inch) while S8+ is slightly behind with 529 PPI. The phone comes with an edge to edge display, which looks premium.
  3. Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8+ both come with a latest and powerful Snapdragon 835 processor for the USA market. But for the rest of the world, the phone is introduced with Exynos 8895 processor which is based on octa-core CPU. Both the processors are equally powerful. This is probably the fastest phone in the market. The Snapdragon 835 processor is built on 10nm technology that helps it to the task way before other processors can.
  4. With Galaxy S8, it did the thing fans were asking for a long time, the ‘removal of physical keys’. Physical keys weren’t any bad, but people were bored of it. And the fact that physical buttons were the main issue in the introduction of the bezel-less display, this was the thing Samsung had to sacrifice someday.
  5. Though the phone is not entirely bezel-less, its edge to edge display looks great. The screen is an edge to edge, but the side screen doesn’t get an accidental touch. The build of the phone is great; the phone has glass and metal body at the back with the front Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone is pretty slim too, Galaxy S8 at 8mm and S8+ at 8.1mm. We also get the 3.5mm jack.
  6. The phone has USB-C port at the bottom. It has got wireless charging, though this is not anything new, Samsung claims that the charging time has been improved.
  7. This time, Samsung has introduced two variants of both the devices – a Dual sim, and a hybrid sim variant. In dual sim variant, a user can use two micro sims at a time, whereas in hybrid sim variant a user can either use two sims or one sim & one micro sd card, which is expandable till 256GB.
  8. Samsung DeX is a new device, which can turn Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. The user will need to buy an additional device called ‘DeX’, which will allow them to connect their device to desktop. The whole UI of DeX is different, with which a user can do basic stuff like playing music, playing videos, and even Microsoft Office support is also there for the user to create their documents.
  9. The new Samsung with these two new devices has bought iris sensor back from the death. The iris sensor was introduced in Note 7, but we all know how the things ended up. The iris sensor looks fun to use, though it is early in development and fingerprint sensor looks more feasible as of now.
  10. The Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8+ both comes with the IP68 water resistant rating, which means the phone can survive into 1.5meter of water for 30 minutes.
